UPSC-CSE is one of the most prestigious civil service examinations conducted by the Unified Public Service Commission (UPSC) annually. UPSC conducts civil service exams for job vacancies like IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and various other posts. There are more than 20 services that come under UPSC-CSE.
The official name of the exam is UPSC Civil Service Examination. It is also known by
another popular name called “IAS EXAM”. It is one of the toughest examinations in India. This prestigious examination is attempted by more than 5 lakh candidates every year. But only the best gets selected for the job vacancies.
The Government has decided to recruit 150 personnel in the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Group ‘A’ through the UPSC Civil Services Examination- 2022. Therefore the total number of vacancies which was 861 earlier got modified to 1011 now. This is a golden opportunity for the aspirants to get into civil services through UPSC 2022.
Important Dates and Events for UPSC CSE 2022
The important dates and events of UPSC Civil Service Examination 2022 are given below
UPSC released the official notification for IAS Exam on 2nd February 2022. The commission has already released the exam schedule for UPSC Exam 2022 on the official UPSC calendar.
UPSC Preliminary Examination is mostly scheduled on the first Sunday of June. As per the UPSC 2022 notification, the preliminary examination for the year 2022 will be held on 5th June 2022(Sunday). The questions of the prelims examination are objective in nature. There are two papers in the civil service prelims. They are General Studies paper-1 and General Studies paper-2. Candidates who clear prelims cut-offs are qualified for the mains. The candidates are selected in a ratio of around 1:15 for the mains.
The mains exam for UPSC CSE 2022 is scheduled from 16th September 2022. The examination is held for 5 days. The main stage is subjective in nature. Each examination will be of a three-hour duration. The answers must be written on paper. The main examination consists of one Essay paper, four General Studies papers and two papers on one optional subject. Also, there are two qualifying papers. They are English language paper and regional language paper. The marks obtained by candidates for the papers I-VII will only be counted for merit ranking.
Candidates will be selected for the interview depending on the marks scored by the candidate in mains. The interview dates will be notified by the commission after releasing the main examination results.

The admit card will be released by the commission 3 weeks before the examination date. The candidates who have applied for the examination can download the UPSC admit card for prelims and mains from the official website(upsc.gov.in).
The IAS admit card for the Interview shall be released after the UPSC mains are successfully conducted. Once the e-summons are released, the direct link for the same shall be intimated to the candidates through the official website. Candidates must note that IAS Interview Call Letter is communicated through an e-mail.
